A good diet for building muscle?

I imagine I wouldn’t look too awesome if I worked out hard but had a poor diet so my question is, anyone know of a good diet/eating regimen to build muscle? I’m hoping a good diet and working out will suffice and I won’t have to go to GNC to pick up supplements.
